Secretary of State Candidate, Gail Buckner, wins recent straw
poll
GAINESVILLE
- Gail Buckner of Jonesboro, a Democratic candidate for Secretary
of State, edged out her primary opponents in an informal straw poll
held at a Gainesville rally. And out of the four statewide races
polled, the 16-year veteran of the state House was the second overall
vote-getter trailing only gubernatorial candidate Cathy Cox.
The
"For the People" rally sponsored by the North Georgia Democrats
attracted some 750 attendees. It was a showcase of Democratic Party
primary candidates running in ten state offices with four of them
contested including Governor, Lt. Governor, Secretary of State,
and State School Superintendent. The stated goal by event organizers
was to persuade uncommitted voters to vote Democrat in the up-coming
primary and in the November general election.
Buckner
is the most experienced state official and the most successful campaigner
in the Democratic Primary for Georgia Secretary of State. For more
information on the Buckner agenda, visit her official web site at
