Poll reveals Buckner leading Democratic rivals
ATLANTA - Strategic Vision, an Atlanta-based and nationally renowned
public affairs firm, released poll results Wednesday that show state
Rep. Gail Buckner (D-Jonesboro) with an eight-point lead among a
crowded field of Democratic hopefuls for Georgia Secretary of State.
Of the voters surveyed, Buckner garnered 26 percent, which trumped
the 18 and 10 percent totals of her two closest competitors. The
three remaining candidates rounded out the heat with nine, eight,
and four. According to the results, 25 percent of those responding
were still undecided.
According
to Buckner, a 16-year veteran of the state House, "This very encouraging
news simply quantifies what we've asserted all along, which is I
have the most experience when it comes to winning elections and
serving the needs of everyday Georgians," said Buckner.
Poll
results were the fruition of a three-day survey conducted July 7-9,
and were derived from telephone interviews with 900 Georgians most
likely to vote in Tuesday's Democratic Primary. The margin of error
was 4.5 percentage points.
Gail
Buckner is the most experienced state official and the most successful
campaigner in the Democratic Primary for Georgia Secretary of State.
