Gail Buckner tops Peoples' Agenda election scorecard

State Rep. Gail Buckner (D-Jonesboro) received the highest score among the candidates for Georgia Secretary of State in an evaluation conducted and released by the Coalition for the Peoples' Agenda, a well-known Atlanta civil rights organization.

The coalition is an alliance of more than 20 civic associations and churches, chaired by the Rev. Joseph Lowery, a founding member of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. The evaluation was based on candidates' answers to questions on a broad range of issues, including criminal justice, education, mandatory sentencing, equal opportunity in government contracts, renewal of the Voting Rights Act and health care.
