Buckner’s agenda receives national recognition

Secretary of State Candidate, Gail Buckner, is named a “Progressive Patriot”

JONESBORO – Recently, three-term U.S. Senator, Russ Feingold (D-Wisconsin), recognized Gail Buckner’s agenda by naming her to his “Progressive Patriot List.” Feingold’s list is a spotlight feature of his Progressive Patriots Fund, a federal political action committee dedicated to promoting progressive reform agendas and supporting selected congressional and statewide candidates from across the country. As a token of this recognition, Sen. Feingold presented the Buckner campaign with a $2,000 contribution.

Buckner is one of ten Secretary of State candidates featured by the organization, which was created to help raise funds while providing national exposure to deserving candidates. According to Feingold’s spokesmen, George Aldrich, “Gail Buckner was chosen because of her advocacy for paper trail verification, increased voter access, campaign/election reform, comprehensive voter education programs and enhanced consumer protections.”

Aldrich said that Sen. Feingold was especially impressed by Buckner’s advocacy for a Georgia Clean & Fair Elections Act. Clean & Fair Elections is a public funding initiative for legislative and statewide campaigns. It is based on campaign funding programs that have been implemented in Arizona and Maine. These systems were inspired by the 2000 McCain-Feingold Act, a landmark campaign finance reform measure.
